DIAMONDS

(1989) Duration: 6:30
Eve Sprecher Butler, University of Louisville School of Music, December 7, 1989
Scrolling score….Recorded by Ben Sung
The title is a reference to the diamond-shaped noteheads used to notate harmonics, which figure prominently in the work, and to the virtuosity of the playing required. The seven-minute, one movement work exhibits a wide variety of moods and closes with a passage of great energy. The work was composed at the request of Michel Samson and premiered by his student, Eve Sprecher, at the University of Louisville on December 7, 1989.
